How Bloom Private Handles Your Data, Step by Step

Bloom Private has no servers and no external databases. Your records stay on your iPhone unless you choose to export them or turn on Apple Health. This article follows your data through each step, from the moment you log it to the moment you delete it.

When you log something

Every period date, symptom or note is saved on your device. There is no account, no sign-up and no email address involved, so nothing links your records to your identity. Your iPhone protects the data with iOS encryption, and you can add a Face ID or Touch ID lock to the app.

What the App Store label says

The App Store privacy label for Bloom Private is "Data Not Collected". That means the developer does not collect data from the app. There are no ads and no third-party trackers.

When you choose to share

Your data only leaves the app when you take an action. Each one is optional:

ActionWhat happensWho controls it
PDF reportA report file is created on your deviceYou choose whether to share it
CSV exportA spreadsheet file is created on your deviceYou choose where to save it
BackupA file encrypted with AES-256 is createdYou choose where to keep it
Apple HealthFlow, sexual activity, mucus and temperature are written to HealthYou turn it on or off

Apple Health is off by default. Once data is in Health or in a file you share, it follows the rules of that app or place.

Why local storage matters

Cycle data can reveal very personal things, and under the GDPR health data is a special category with extra protection. Keeping records on your device means there is no central database that could be breached, sold or requested by someone else. That does not make any phone perfectly safe, so keep your device updated and protected with a passcode.

When you want to delete everything

Because the data lives on your device, deleting it is under your control:

  • Delete data in the app: erase all records from the settings.
  • Delete the app: removes the app and its local data from your device.
  • Remember your copies: exported files, backups and Apple Health data are separate and need to be deleted where you saved them.

What Bloom Private is, and is not

It is a cycle tracking tool for iPhone and iPad. It is not a medical device and not a contraceptive method. If something about your cycle worries you, talk to a healthcare professional. You can try our Try our free period calculator without installing anything.
